One big benefit of working with us: our benefits package
Our Mission to care for all includes our caregivers, and a major way we do that through our best-in-class suite of benefits. We spoke with Providence Medford Medical Center Operating Room Assistant Nurse Manager and Nurse Educator Jilleann about what the benefits mean to her. Here’s what she says.
“The medical benefits have helped literally grow my family.”
“Sometimes it’s the simple, everyday things that make the biggest difference in our lives,” Jilleann shared. “The Providence medical benefits have helped literally grow my family. Having wonderful healthcare coverage and maternity leave allowed me to focus on having our new baby. From developing a serious health complication related to pregnancy, to having a baby seven weeks early, staying in NICU for weeks, and then finally coming home, I felt protected and supported.”
Providence also supports caregivers who are parents with our optional back-up child and elder care benefit. Through the program, Bright Horizons Back-Up Care provides access to back-up care for caregivers’ children, adult and elder family members during a lapse or breakdown in normal care arrangements.
And Providence medical benefits go beyond coverage for doctor visits. We also prioritize caregivers’ mental health. Choose Well, our well-being program, supports daily engagement, social connections and well-being resources. And the Caregiver Assistance Program through Lyra provides free and confidential mental wellness information, resources, guidance and counseling support 24/7 for all caregivers and their families.
“The opportunity and encouragement for professional growth is another reason I really appreciate Providence.”
Providence fosters a culture of advancement, and we offer caregivers an array of career development benefits. For example, every caregiver has access to our online education benefit marketplace with select fully funded degrees and up to $5,250/year covered or reimbursed for a wider selection of programs at high-quality schools. Starting on day one, caregivers can enroll in programs like:
- Degrees and certificates in high-growth areas like nursing, radiologic science, respiratory therapy, social work and more
- High school completion and college prep programs
- English language learning
Jilleann has experienced this culture of advancement firsthand. “I first came to Providence Medford as a travel nurse,” she says. “I was hired into a permanent position not long after and through encouragement from staff, I stepped into the OR nurse educator role—and eventually, the assistant nurse manager role.”
“The opportunity for professional growth is one big reason I really appreciate Providence,” says Jilleann. “Less than a year ago, I helped to onboard four RNs new to the OR; two of those were brand new RNs, two were experienced RNs new to our specialty. I cannot express how much the staff here have helped these new hires, and it has been a pure joy watching them gain confidence in their new roles and become independent OR nurses.”

“Providence Medford is filled with the most phenomenal professionals.”
An intangible benefit to working at Providence is one we hear time and again when connecting with caregivers: the benefit of supportive teams that feel like family. Says Jilleann, “The support I have received from my colleagues through some of the hardest, and best, times in both my professional and personal life is something I don’t take for granted and am so grateful for.”
