Our diagnostic imaging teams put the rad in radiology
October 8, 2024
With Halloween just around the corner, there’s no better time to illuminate the Providence caregivers who work in the dark and look at skeletons (and more) all year-round. We spoke recently with some members of our stellar diagnostic imaging team about why they love working with us during spooky season and beyond.
Their coworkers are humerus
Healthcare can be tough, but laughter is good medicine. That’s why we love when our imaging caregivers say their coworkers lighten their day. CT Technologist Ciara, who works with us in Missoula, Montana, says, “I remember when I came for my interview, they were already just joking, making me laugh. They were very down to earth and easy. It felt like home.”
Ciarra reports to Radiology Manager Erin, who echoes that sentiment. “At the same time as being very compassionate and caring towards their patients and each other, they are a lot of fun. I hear laughing all the time down the hall. Everybody gets along. I think that’s a big reason why people come back every single day, is feeling like you have friends as well as coworkers.”
The same goes for the team in Portland, Oregon. Says X-ray Lead Lynette, “Everybody has quirky, funny personalities. I come into work and have so much fun. People are dancing and singing. We write goofy jokes on the board. My coworkers are some of my best friends.”
They cannot image-in better benefits
We want to help every Providence caregiver succeed, which is why we offer a comprehensive suite of best-in-class benefits, from financial support to mental and physical wellness programs, to elective benefits like pet insurance and backup childcare, to entertainment discounts and much more. CT and X-ray Technologist Ben says, “The benefits are awesome. They were easy to get signed up with from the comfort of my home with a virtual app. They’re very affordable. I couldn’t be happier.”
Providence sees the potential inside of them
One of our most-talked-about benefits is our tuition reimbursement program, one of the many ways caregivers can practice at the top of their licenses, get continuing education covered, or expand into new modalities.
Says Erin, “I know several people who have done the tuition reimbursement program and they’ve loved it. Providence makes it very easy to maneuver. You download an app to help get through the process and it really does encourage people going out and expanding their horizons and growing within.”
MR, CT and X-ray Technologist Tanya, who works with us in Hood River, Oregon, is an example of this. She says, “Every year, our leadership sits down with us and asks us, how can I help you grow? When I first started here, I just did CT and X-Ray. My passion and goal was to do MRI. Providence allowed me to do that. I wouldn’t be where I’m at if it wasn’t for Providence.”
Their leaders and managers radiate encouragement
This crisp, colorful time of year and all the other seasons, we love hearing how highly our imaging teams speak of their managers and leaders. Says Tanya, “One of the reasons why I’m here, and I don’t want to get choked up, is because of my boss. She listens. She’s very much involved if we have any concerns or issues, not only with our department, but personally she has helped me grow as an individual.”
Lynette feels the same way. “This is by far the best management team that I’ve ever had. I think that’s what keeps a lot of people here, even when we’re busy and have to do extra call shifts. We have single parents who need to drop a day because of childcare and they’re flexible. They’re supportive when people want to move into new roles. I can’t say enough good things about them.”
They know it’s what’s on the inside that counts
Inside our team at Providence is a Mission to serve all, to ease the way of our patients and fellow caregivers. To ensure every day is the best day possible. Says Erin, “There’s a bigger purpose we have and that brings us together and keeps us grounded. Even though we’re still able to have fun, we all have that purpose at heart.”
