Patient Services at Providence: voices from the frontline
A patient services specialist is one of the first faces patients see at a Providence care facility. Because patient services specialists set the tone for the patient experience, they are a critical component to providing world-class health care. Patient services specialists are on point to schedule appointments, answer phones, welcome patients, register patients and process patient discharge documents.
This is the perfect role for someone who has at least one year of customer service experience and is interested in exploring the healthcare field. If you’re interested in joining our team as a patient services caregiver, read on for five reasons you’ll love working in this role at Providence.
1: Diverse duties
Patient Service Specialist Hannah likes the different types of work she’s able to do on a daily basis. Says Hannah, “Compared to previous jobs, this job is busy, but in a good way. I’m never sitting there bored. We work with a variety of different specialties, so I am continuously learning about other departments. We also interact with a variety of people of different levels of education, different backgrounds, and it’s just a great place to be.”
2: A values-based organization
Pamela, who works in registration, says, “What I like about working at Providence is that they encourage all employees to model the core values which are compassion, dignity, justice, excellence and integrity. I also really appreciate the Providence daily reflection; it is very uplifting for me when I receive an email every day of the week to start my day.”
3: Teams that feel like family
Hannah says, “My coworkers are the best, honestly. Here we’re a big family and we can really depend on each other with stuff that’s work related and not work related. We’re just a group of friends working together.”
4: A welcoming environment
Patient Services Specialist Keri says, “We’re definitely a diverse group of people, that’s why I primarily chose this clinic. So many personalities and ethnicities, but everyone is just great to work with and fun. I think we try to make it fun every single day, and that’s why I love working here.”
5: Opportunities for growth
