World-class benefits that even cover your pets

January 11, 2023

Welcoming a pet into the family has many positive wellbeing benefits. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), more than 23 million American households—nearly 1 in 5—adopted a pet during the pandemic.

And it’s no wonder: The CDC cites the following benefits of pet ownership:

  • Increased opportunities to get outside and exercise
  • Potential for decreased depression since pets offer companionship
  • Potential for decreased blood pressure and cholesterol levels

At Providence, pets are part of the family, too. That’s why we’re happy to offer pet insurance as part of our world-class benefits package. Following is a look at how Providence supports our many pet-owning caregivers.

First, what is pet insurance?

Pet insurance enables savings on routine medical care for pets and protects pet owners should unexpected issues arise. Pet insurance works in a similar way to typical medical insurance for humans, where there’s a deductible to meet before vet care is covered. For many, this coverage offers peace of mind in case of unexpected emergencies.

Pet insurance at Providence

Providence partners with Nationwide to provide affordable pet insurance to caregivers. Pet insurance includes coverage for preventive care, accidents and illness for cats, dogs or exotic pets—and caregivers are able to choose their own preferred veterinarian. Coverage options and cost vary based on the species, age and size of the pet (as an adult) as well as plan type, deductible and state of residence.
