Covenant Health clinics enable caregivers to fulfill their calling to serve others
Caregivers often tell us they applied to Providence because they identify with our Mission to serve all in our communities, especially the poor and vulnerable. This is true for many of our clinic caregivers at Covenant Health, part of the Providence family of organizations, in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. Here is what several Covenant clinic caregivers have to say about working with us.
All are welcome
All caregivers with different cultures, backgrounds and perspectives are welcome at Covenant and the entire Providence family of organizations. Clinical Supervisor Roxanne says, “Our caregivers come from all different walks of life.” Patient Services Specialist Luciano appreciates that, “Covenant supports everybody’s culture, their belief system, their entire personality.” Cyndie adds, “One of the best things about Covenant is that I’m able to be myself. I’ve never felt pressured to curb the way that I am.”
Roxanne explains that one benefit of working at a Mission-focused organization is that it allows you to treat the whole person, patients and caregivers alike. One example is how caregivers are treated when they need to take care of something outside of work. “We have grace for them whenever something comes up and they need time off,” she says.
Driven by the Mission at Covenant
Patient Services Specialist Cyndie spends her days connecting with patients who visit the clinic where she works in Lubbock, and says her faith brought her to Covenant. “I just feel like God put me here, and it has just been amazing,” says Cyndie. “I have been super blessed.”
LVN Supervisor Shelly also believes she’s meant to be at Covenant, saying, “To be honest with you, I think God puts us in places for specific reasons. Covenant has set their morals and their values and their mission, and they really believe in that mission.”
Roxanne appreciates Covenant’s philosophy of care, including for caregivers themselves. “Their whole mission is to lift you up, and to support you ultimately.”
A lasting impact
The values instilled in all caregivers at Covenant help foster an environment that makes a lasting impact on both caregivers and patients alike. Shelly finds the atmosphere completely different than where she’s worked before, saying, “I feel more valued, I’m not treated just as a body; I am treated as a person.”
Athletic Trainer Jared says, “What I’ve noticed while working at Covenant clinics, whether you’re working directly with patients or not, you have some type of impact.”
For Luciano, the positive impacts he’s received at work have been surprising. “This is actually my first job in the medical field. I wanted something that’s long-lasting, something that I can grow into and retire from. I’ll tell you the truth, I should have done this a long time ago. I love this job.”
